I must confess… I am a little puzzled.

When I spoke of evolution, I imagined a species that would grow wiser with time—not merely faster with technology. A species that would adapt… not simply update.

And yet here you are…

counting steps on watches,

tracking sleep on apps,

measuring calm… and somehow losing it.

Remarkable.

I was once questioned—quite passionately—for suggesting you evolved from simpler beings.

That, I thought, was controversial.

But what I see now… is far more intriguing.

You have mastered speed… but seem uncertain of direction.

You have built connection… but struggle with conversation.

You have access to everything… except… yourselves.

You call it progress.

I… am still reading the footnotes.

Somewhere along the way,

discipline became “too much,”

silence became “awkward,”

and excess… became a personality.

Curious shift.

In my understanding, evolution was never about becoming louder, busier, or endlessly stimulated.

It was about becoming better suited—to survive, to adapt… and ideally, to do so together.

And here lies the most fascinating observation—

you are not failing because you cannot evolve…

you are simply… distracted while attempting it.

Scrolling, I believe you call it.

Yes… I’ve noticed.

But before you assume I’ve lost faith—

no. Not entirely.

Because quietly, almost rebelliously,

I still see a few of you—

choosing discipline when it is inconvenient,

choosing kindness when it is unnoticed,

choosing stillness… in a world addicted to noise.

Ah… there you are.

The species I had in mind.

Perhaps evolution has not gone wrong…

perhaps it is merely… buffering.

Waiting for you to remember—

that survival was never about comfort,

growth was never about excess,

and intelligence… was never meant to be this… restless.

So dear humans—

you need not become something new.

Just… try not to devolve with excellent Wi-Fi.
