“Suvidha Mahar… why didn’t you call?”
…that’s Sujata scolding me, and me frivolously thinking of an excuse and then coming up with one she won’t believe… 🤣
And just like that…
time doesn’t pass… it simply pauses and comes back.
Because there are only two people in this whole world who still call me by my full college attendance register name—
“Suvidha Mahar.”
Sujata & Shalini.
And every single time I hear it,..it feels like the years in between… don’t exist.
“Sir, please say very good to Sujata too… otherwise she’ll get angry!”
This… right in the middle of a yoga class.
I’m there, holding a posture, trying to do it perfectly—
and suddenly…
“Why did you say very good to her and not to me?”
“Say very good to me also!”
“Throw her out of the class!”
Initially, the students used to be shocked… slightly confused… unsure what was happening.
But now?
They just smile… some even wait for it.
Because they know—
this is us…
This constant leg-pulling,
this effortless interruption,
this freedom to just say anything…
without overthinking, without filters.
And then that party…
Sujata walked in wearing a blue saree—absolutely stunning.
I looked at her and said,
“Sujata… I am not at all liking that you are looking so good.”
A compliment… in the most oxymoron-ish way possible.
And behind her, there was someone standing—completely flabbergasted… almost shocked…
trying to process what they had just heard.
And I smiled.
Because what they didn’t understand was—this is exactly what our friendship looks like…
I am so thankful to God…
that I still have those college, unfiltered friendships
where one “Suvidha Mahar”
is enough to make me feel like time hasn’t passed at all.
And to this already priceless treasure…life added a few more beautiful people.
And together, we became… Hum Paanch—
Suvi, Sujata, Parul, Ruchi ji & Vimmi ji.
Completely unfiltered,
unapologetic,
pulling each other’s leg one moment…
standing rock-solid for each other the next…
and always, always there…
Because friendships like these…
don’t need explanations.
They just… exist…..
In laughter, in chaos, in comfort and …in a name that still holds years.
