“While Honouring Yesterday “

Yesterday, while we were honouring our senior doctors, I found myself drifting into a thought that wouldn’t leave me. Twenty… twenty-five years from now… that will be us. And somehow, that one thought humbled me.

We live as though we’re permanent. As though money, power, position, or status make us different. But do they?

In the end, isn’t the only true ruler… time?

It comes for every one of us. For every living being. Even for things that aren’t alive. We say the furniture has grown old. The walls have aged. The photographs have faded. Everything, somehow, carries the fingerprints of time.

And then I kept wondering…

What is time?

What exactly is it that leaves behind a little less of us with every passing moment? If, somehow, time could simply stop… would we stop growing old? Would anything ever wear out? Or is change itself what time looks like?

Isn’t it strange… we live as though we’re in control. We carry so much attitude. So much ego. So much baggage.

When, perhaps, the one thing truly in charge has never been us. Perhaps it has always been time.

Maybe that’s why time has always felt like life’s greatest mystery to me. We can measure it. We can divide it into seconds, minutes, and years. Yet I don’t think we’ve ever truly understood what it is….
